he engaged for 12 years service. Between 30th March, 1917 and 25th
March, 1918, Page served on board the Destroyer HMS "Matchless". AB

Walter Shepherd was born in Mile End Old Town, London on 23rd September, 1896.
He joined the Royal Navy on 1st July, 1914. He served throughout the First World
War on numerous vessels including the Patrol Vessel "P54" and the
Destroyers H.M.S. "Scotsman" and H.M.S. "Taurus". Shepherd
was invalided out of the Royal Navy suffering from a disease of the Ear on 4th
January, 1922.)

(Edmund Herbert Butcher was born in Stanford le Hope,
Essex on 2nd July, 1888. A carpenter, married to Ada, he enlisted for the
duration of the war on 12th December, 1914. Butcher was promoted to Leading
Mechanic on 15th December, 1916, Petty Officer Mechanic on 30th April,
1917 (Sergeant Mechanic on formation of RAF) and Chief Mechanic on 2nd April,
1918. Both his RNAS and RAF records show him as serving in France from 27th
February, 1916 to 5th December, 1917, but the Naval Medal rolls confirms he was
entitled to the 1914-15 Star. He was demobilised on 30th April, 1920.)(The
1914-15 Star is officially renamed.)

(Albert Robinson was born at
Scarborough on 7th March, 1886. He was engaged in the Royal Naval Reserve on the
7th August, 1914 serving on the Mine trawler "Ben Ardna" and was on
board when this vessel was sunk by a mine near Elbow Buoy on the 8th
August, 1915. Robinson then served on board Trawler "Glen Boyne" until he
was discharged "Shore - Medically unfit" on 14th October, 1915
suffering from organic heart disease. Living in Aberdeen, he was issued with a
Naval Armlet (No 6270) on 24th January, 1916 and awarded with a Silver War Badge
(numbered 37275) in February, 1919.)
