M1926 "con ala" (with wings); the previous M1921 type had straight (not curved) sides. Both M1921s and M1926s were worn by both sides during The Spanish Civil War, although the Republican Government troops favoured Adrians.. The M1926 was produced until the introduction of the German-like M1942. The helmet in question has a post-Civil War provision for the front national plate. The helmet might have been in existence during the Civil War. The shell may have been repainted at least once in it's working life. As far as Spanish helmets are concerned it is an evocative piece with some history.
