GERMAN 'BEADED M'40' Pattern Helmet
The helmet is a beaded M40 type, of a type manufactured between 1940 and 1942. This example is marked 4792,and 'ET62' on the inside rim, and has been repainted during it's working life. It appears to have been painted 'Lufschutze Blue' under the existing paint. The chin-strap and chin-strap hangers have been removed. It appeart that this example has been issued to an H.J. Flakhelferin, as it is a very small size.
These were helmets were also issued to Polizei - painted blue - and with Polizei insignia.
The "Panzer" inscription is fictitious. The liner maker's stamp is genuine, as are the initials.
"One of the Hitler Jugend Flakhelfer helmets seen during the fall of Berlin in 1945. These boys helped serve the legendary "88" Anti-Aircraft guns. Depressed, they were effective in knocking out the T34s rolling through the Berlin streets".
Condition: good to very good. Repainted in it's working life, chin-strap and chinstrap hangers missing.

3RD REICH FEUERPOLIZEI HELMET
Aluminium bbody with most original black finish, with original decals. Usual blck Swastica one a white background one side, and gold mongram 'H-I-G' ? on a black shield, the other. Prominent aluminium combe, original liner, complete with clear plastic/acitate securing straps. Back of Helmet impressed 'B X F -VORSCHRIFTS MASSIE LT. GESETZ 3.5.34'. Excellent light brown leather liner ink stamped '57' and 'Carl henkel Beilfelde', in a triangle. A 'sleeper' and a particularly attractive helmet.
I am advised by a kind and enthusiastic customer that "this type of chinstrap was apparently known as a "supron band" chinstrap. That's all I know. I suppose it is a sort of pliable plastic used at the end of the war as a cost-saving measure. Leather, as we know, was becoming scarce in Germany at the end of the war. Hence the use of pressed cardboard for some equipment straps (i.e. "Press-toff").
Condition: Excellent
