Condition: good or better, stitching split, along scabbard seam, scabbard chape a possible replacement. some light to heavy pitting to pommel and cross-guard

Pattern 1888 bayonet for Lee-Metford Rifle.(Also fits Mk.I Lee-Metford rifles, Charger-loading convertions, and .303 Martini-Metford and Martini-Enfield Artillery Carbines) Rounded wanut grips held by brass rivets and washers, clearing hole in grip above top brass rivet. Pommel very stamped with the rack no '61'.305mm double edged blade marked at ricasso,' .4'93' 'Crown V.R.' Sanderson Sheffield' one side, and 'Broad Arrow WD',Sheffield Inspector marks the other. Complete in correct steel mounted black leather scabbard.
Condition: excellent plus, but deep rust pit above lace to steel scabbard.

Steel pommel with no oil drain hole, walnut grips with two horizontal grooves, held two blued steel grips bolts. 430mm Single fullered single edged blade, ricasso marked 1913 12-16 'W' (for Winchester)one side and 'Broad Arrow' and profuse inspector marks. Complete in a black finish steel mounted scabbard with 'tear-drop' frog stud. This is the rarest of the U. S. American makers, it is a shame about the external condition.
